The Zettelkasten is a personal productivity tool, and you should have as many as you have persons.

That is now my favorite short-form reply to whether you should maintain multiple note archives or Zettelkasten instances.

Work policy may demand that notes from your work laptop may never leave the device or company cloud storage, so that won’t work. That’s a problem in search of a work-around. Chances are you’ll live longer than your employer stays in business. More likely, you’ll switch jobs. Optimize this part of your life for your personal perfection.
